Photographers tackle composition in different ways depending on their genres; landscape photographers aren't in control of every aspect such as weather/lighting whereas still-life photographers are able to control every aspect.

- Consider sense of place so the photographs have emotional depth.

- Shape and form is main interest.
- Single light source and reflector are used.
- The background can be lit.
- Can be done outside with natural light.

- In a studio or on location for either style.
