- Sir Alfred
Joseph Hitchcock was an English filmmaker and producer, who pioneered many
techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres.
- He used
humour to add tension and information to build up suspense as well as montages.
- Some
Hitchcock films were filmed in small spaces, yet the cinematography did not
have monotonous repetition. For example, the entire action in Rear Window
either takes place in or is seen from a single apartment.
- He also
created the dolly zoom or ‘vertigo effect’.
- His films
draw heavily on both fear and fantasy, which could be useful for my
project.
